Hey I've just got hair extentions and forgot to ask the lady whether I can wear them swimming in chlorinated pools and in the sea! Please only answer if you know. Oh and apparently I'm supposed to use a special brush, I have just been really careful brushing instead, is this ok?
Hair extentions? help!?
Are your extensions human hair? if so you can swim although it would be less of a tangled mess if you wore it in a braid. You can use a boar type brush or wide tooth comb to detangle. Here is a little known tip: Let's say if hair is tangled and you comb from the root to the ends you are pushing tangles thru the entire hair shaft, causing untold damage, this is true for your own hair as well as extensions. The hair should be combed/brushed starting approximately 2 inches from ends this way you are able to release tangles with more ease after that area is complete you, will repeat step one, 2 -3 inches above ,again gently removing tangles, you then repeat this process until you have worked your way to the crown of your hair.Keep in mind, you are careful not to pull on the base of the extension unnecessarily this can damage extension as well as your own hair (breakage). Here is tip #2 towel drying is a BIG NO NO.......after washing you may blot hair with towel, pressing hair onto towel. The idea is to remove excess water. I can't understand why anyone would rub hair and towel together like this. Did you know how damaging this is? it is the cause of split ends, hair loss due to breakage hair texture feels dry/damaged natural shine is gone. This act alone is like taking a fine silk blouse, wetting it and aggressively rubbing against another silk blouse. Okay how long before it looks raggetty? Remember you want to wash and condition hair with a really good product line. Oh and before I leave this out do not pile hair on top of your head when shampooing and create a big bubbly lather, tangled mess. You'll want to concentrate on root area allowing lather to travel down hair shaft gently working in....never mixing it all up this is sufficient enough to clean hair unless you are using alot of styling products. There is a product availble at beauty supplies called "Porosity Control" it can help if tangles become overwhelming or just as a once a week treatment. It's a little extra work but your hair will look and feel good. Good luck!
Hair extentions? help!?
Yes you can swim in them and you need a wide tooth comb or brush b/c you dont want to pull any of it out. You can wash it to by putting a stocking on your head and shampooing as normal.Good luck
Hair extentions? help!?
Yes, you can swim in it,but my advice to you would be not to because some hair won't look so hot after it drys from swimming.Once you wash it though, you really have to treat it! Such as shampoo, conditioning, blow-drying, oil-sheening, wrapping, etc. In order to keep fake hair looking new and fresh, you must treat it as if it's your own! P.S. Use a weave brush when wearing weave...if you do not know what this is, go to your local beauty supply and ask them for one. They're usually like $3-$4.
